The thinking of most of the 78 per cent will be that Britain should leave the EU on March 29 as expected.

That of the 20 per cent is a bit harder to work out.  Some will hope that extension ends in revocation.  Others will believe, with Martin Howe, that “it is far better to risk extending Article 50 than to accept May’s bad deal”.  There will be other reasons.

But at any rate, the verdict of the panel is unambiguous.
