The standing of at least one entrant has been overtaken by events – Michael Fallon has left the Cabinet – and next month’s table may find a dramatically different picture. Nonetheless, this is how Cabinet members stand in our most recent survey.
- Hammond is deep in the red. The Chancellor has been in difficult territory since August, and this shows no sign of recovery as he slips a further three points to cross the -40 threshold.
- McLoughlin fares even worse. The Party Chairman has seen his standing drop by more than 12 points to reach a record depth of -51. In a series where any net negative score is noteworthy this figure is truly remarkable.
- Patel is up to third. The International Development Secretary has picked up eight points to leapfrog Liam Fox. As it happens, the person she replaces is Michael Fallon.
