This is simply to report that we have today issued our revised monthly survey. As we explained recently, it will go in future to an e-mail list of several thousand Party members who responded to recent surveys – so look out for it in your inbox today.
Readers may be especially interested in the Next Tory Leader question that we have revived since June’s election, especially since the results of a recent YouGov poll for the Observer mirrored our findings from last month almost exactly.
Naming candidates is an art as much as a science, and it is likely that future months will see jigging and re-jigging – elsewhere as well as here on this site.
So, for the record, we have gone this month with: David Davis, Michael Gove, Damian Green, Philip Hammond, Sajid Javid, Boris Johnson, Andrea Leadsom, Priti Patel, Dominic Raab, Amber Rudd and Rory Stewart.
We could have added Graham Brady, James Cleverly, Michael Fallon, Liam Fox, George Freeman, Sam Gyimah, Mark Harper, Jo Johnson, Phillip Lee, Brandon Lewis, Johnny Mercer, Nicky Morgan, Jesse Norman, Tom Tugendhat and Gavin Williamson.
All these have been named since the election in one media outlet or another, but we have taken pity on our respondents and kept the number of contenders reasonably short. We have also retained last month’s real winner: a write-in category for Others.
