As we write, the toll from what appears to have been a nail bomb at the Ariana Grande concert is 19 dead and over 50 injured.  Ian Hopkins, the Chief Constable of Manchester, said earlier this morning that “we are currently treating this attack as a terrorist incident until we have further information”.  Theresa May has suspended her general election campaign, as have all the main political parties, and there will be a COBRA meeting at 9am.

Newspapers don’t stop publishing when horrors like this one take place, so we will run our usual columns and comment for early publication this morning.  However, we have pulled our political ToryDiary, and are running this article instead, as the country mourns the dead and injured.  Our prayers this morning are with the murdered innocents of Manchester, and with their bereaved families and friends.
