Last year gave us a feast of u-turns, with almost all of them – including the winner of our U-turn of the Year Award, the pasty tax – contained within George Osborne’s Budget. This year hasn’t quite been so generous, although there are a few candidates:
- The u-turn on a u-turn over cigarette packaging.
- Minimum alcohol pricing.
- Green taxes.
- Plans to scrap GCSEs.
And ConHome readers will probably highlight more in their nominations below. One thing’s worth noting, though: Heathrow came second in the contest last year, so, despite today’s report, we reckon it’s ineligible for inclusion this time around.
