After George Osborne’s outstanding attack on Alistair Darling’s Pre-Budget Report this afternoon, it was time to get the party’s message out to the wider public.

And playing a key role in doing this this evening were legions of tax bombshell T-shirt-wearing Conservative Future members, who handed out tens of thousands of leaflets between them at railway stations up and down the country.

Most of the big London termini were covered, as were Leeds, Bristol, Manchester, Newcastle, Birmingham and Liverpool. I hear these hit squads – and the literature – have been extremely well received and that the party will be repeating the exercise at various points in the future.
