After a number of surveys had shown a tightening of public opinion there is good news for the Conservative Party in today’s Times. Populus puts the Tories 9% ahead. The party also leads on economic competence. ICM, on Sunday, had put Labour ahead on this crucial measure. There will be relief in CCHQ that the Derek Conway controversy does not appear to have damaged the party’s standing.
