The Daily Express has this morning launched a campaign to abolish what it calls the "hated death tax." The newspaper’s political editor Macer Hall has set up a petition on the Number 10 Downing Street website "to ensure that inheritance tax is scrapped in this year’s Budget." You can add your name to the petition here.
Conservative MP Mike Penning has already signed up to the campaign:
“This is a fantastic way for the people of this country, who are being fleeced by inheritance tax, to express their views directly to the Prime Minister. Mr Blair ignores this at his peril. He must listen. Inheritance tax is quite simply immoral. It hits Middle Britain big time. I urge anyone who feels angry about inheritance tax to use this petition to make their voice heard.”
