A YouGov poll for The Sunday Times of nearly 2,000 voters (bizarrely coming just two days after another YouGov poll for The Telegraph) gives the Tories a 5% lead. The LibDems at 15% are at one of their lowest levels for a number of years. Other pollsters give the LibDems 18% (ICM), 19% (Populus) and 17% (Communicate Research). 9.30am update: Dizzy is reporting that some LibDem councillors want Ming to go.
The Sunday Times focuses upon the 39% to 31% lead that Cameron’s Conservatives enjoy amongst women.
The Tory lead of 5% at the end of Labour’s ‘annus horribilis’ compares with a Labour advantage of 1% at the start of 2006.
