The Oak Tree (right) has won the overwhelming support of the more than 600 people who participated in yesterday’s ConservativeHome vote on a new Tory logo.

58% voted for Krieg Barrie’s Oak Tree – three times as many who voted for the Four Nations idea.  The Dolphins attracted just 34 votes.

Many of you used yesterday’s comments thread to explain why the oak tree had won your approval.  Others also added an explanation to their email vote.  Here are some of the adjectives and phrases you submitted…

"Strong" – "Rooted" – "Environmental/ Green" – "English/ British" – "Protective" – "Reaching to the sky" – "Providing shelter".

ConservativeHome will send this result – and all of your logo designs – to Steve Hilton, David Cameron’s top communications adviser.
