Further to the postponement of the local elections, and the cancellation of the Tory Spring Forum, the Conservative Party has now suspended all “face to face” campaigning, citing its wish to “keep people safe”.

The message – sent out by the Conservative Councillors’ Association this evening – specifies that “face to face campaigning…includes literature delivery”, essentially restricting anything other than “digital communication methods”.

Instead, Tory councillors and associations are reminded that “This is a time for looking out for each other, for our neighbours, friends and family. Please encourage able supporters to ring around vulnerable or elderly members and check on their health and wellbeing.”

Campaigning

Following yesterday’s announcement from the Government, we are formally suspending face to face campaigning, this includes literature delivery.

Public safety has and will always remain our top priority.

You may wish to direct your volunteers and activists towards digital communication methods that will keep people safe. This is a time for looking out for each other, for our neighbours, friends and family. Please encourage able supporters to ring around vulnerable or elderly members and check on their health and wellbeing.
