Below is the full list of the 17 Conservative MPs who tonight rebelled to support Yvette Cooper and Nick Boles’s amendment. Fifteen of the rebels are the same as those who backed the Grieve amendment, and they were joined by Freeman:

  • Heidi Allen
  • Guto Bebb
  • Nick Boles
  • Ken Clarke
  • Jonathan Djanogly
  • George Freeman
  • Justine Greening
  • Dominic Grieve
  • Sam Gyimah
  • Phillip Lee
  • Oliver Letwin
  • Antoinette Sandbach
  • Nicholas Soames
  • Anna Soubry
  • John Stevenson
  • Ed Vaizey
  • Sarah Wollaston

**UPDATE** Andrew Stephenson originally appeared on this list, as per the Commons voting record, but he in fact went through both lobbies – an effective abstention.

**UPDATE 2** We now gather that actually Andrew Stephenson did not even go through both lobbies – he voted with the Government, but the Commons Clerks accidentally recorded him as voting for the amendment as well. The person they should have noted down as rebelling to vote for the amendment was John Stevenson, MP for Carlisle. We have now added him to our list.
