This evening, the members of Hove Conservative Association will meet to select the person who hopes to succeed outgoing MP Mike Weatherley, who announced his intention to leave parliament earlier this month.
The Association itself hasn’t released the names of the shortlisted candidates, but local media reports that two of them are thought to be:
- Cllr Kristy Adams. A Bedford Borough Councillor with business links in Hove, she co-owns a design and construction firm. Cllr Adams is also the Conservative Area Chair for Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire, a school governor and a campaigner against modern slavery.
- Cllr Graham Cox. A Brighton and Hove Councillor, Cllr Cox also blogs here. He entered politics in 2011 after a thirty year career in the local police, culminating in a stint as Head of Sussex CID.
There is speculation, though no confirmation, of a third candidate – we’ll report more news as soon as there is any. Best of luck to all those taking part.
