Bowen MarkAs indicated earlier this evening, the Conservative candidate for the Feltham and Heston by-election due to take place on the 15th December has now been confirmed. Mark Bowen, who fought the seat in 2005 and 2010 – over which period he reduced the Labour majority from over 12,000 to fewer than 5,000 votes – has been selected to represent the Party in the by-election.

Mark is Leader of the Conservative Group on Hounslow Borough Council, has worked and lived in the constituency for a number of years, and has a strong connection to local people and local issues. Mark commented on his selection:

"It is a real privilege to be the Conservative candidate for Feltham and Heston, my home constituency. Having lived in the constituency for the past 13 years, it really is a great honour and I am extremely proud of my local area. I have been a councillor for the last 9 years and have fought the last two general elections as the Conservative Candidate. I therefore, have a proven track record of working hard for everyone in the community and am passionate about doing everything I can to help improve the lives of local people."

Conservative Party Co-Chairman, Baroness Warsi added:

"I am delighted to welcome such a strong, hard-working candidate in Mark Bowen for Feltham and Heston. This is Mark’s home turf – and he has already proved he can deliver here, having served his community on the council for nearly a decade. Mark’s dedication to his patch is clear and I can think of no-one who would represent the constituency better in Parliament. The campaign starting gun has fired, we are working hard, and I can’t wait to get out and about with Mark, knocking on doors and fighting for every vote."
