Welcome aboard to Cllr Richard White, who represents Newton on Powys County Council and has defected from the Liiberal Democrats to the Conservatives. The council is run by a Independents/Lib Dem coalition.
Cllr White says:
"I found it very disappointing that Powys County Council last year spent over £6m on consultants – that's more than it spends on sixth forms.
"It is clear to me that the council cabinet needs to reassess its priorities."
Leader of the Welsh Conservatives in the Assembly, Andrew RT Davies says:
"Councillor White will make a great addition to a successful Welsh Conservative team, which has made considerable gains in Powys in recent years with the election of Glyn Davies MP and Russell George AM.
"His move to the Welsh Conservatives is representative of a wider shift in public opinion in Powys to support a party determined to stand up for the people of Wales."
