Last year I suggestedthat the Council elections results were linked to the Council Tax. Conservatives in Harrow, Enfield and Ealing had put the Council Tax up and lost. In Hammersmith and Fulham we cut the Council Tax and won.
In case anyone still hasn't got the message take a look at the results that have just come in for Windsor and Maidenhead. The Conservatives there have embraced transparency, championed free schools, promoted the Big Society and used incentives to boost recycling. Above all they have cut the Council Tax while improving services. Regular readers of this section of the seat will be familiar this.
They have also gained 14 seats. I don't think there will be many other Councils recording a higher figure of Conservative gains. This is not a random outcome. Their success is due to their local achievement.
Maximum respect to Council leader Cllr David Burbage and his team.
