The Conservative Manifesto for Bournemouth notes that money saving initiatives include transferring the operation of the BIC, Pavilion and leisure centres to a new Charitable Trust. Success stories include the Air Festival, a free event with spectacular displays from the RAF, largely paid for by sponsorship which has boosted visitors and thus tourism revenue worth over £80 million for the local economy. More festivals on other themes are planned.
The environment has been improved with the planting of 200 more street tees and the reduction of litter through tougher enforcement.
If the Conservatives win the Council plans to buy itself out of the Government's housing subsidy system.
The Conservatives pledge to retain weekly bin collections.
