Having narrowly held his seat the Lib Dem Liverpool councillor Cllr Richard Kemp has been busy denouncing his Government to anyone who will listen. It is widely expected he will become leader of the Lib Dems diminshed opposition group in Liverpool. That would be for good news for the Labour council as he would simply echo their claims that everything is the Government's fault.

He says:

“What we now need to do is very clearly go back and renegotiate the last three years of the four year funding settlement and make sure the cuts are more evenly spread."

What planet is he on?

Perhaps he thinks the renegotiation should involve extra councillor allowances. He complains he has had to live on peanuts – he and his wife are paid £50,000 a year in allowances.
