Interesting Parliamentary Question last week on which ten councils have the lowest collection rates for Council Tax.
They are Manchester (90.9% of Council Tax collected in for 2009/10 as of March 31st 2010), Salford (91.8%), Southwark (91.8%), Newham (92.0%) Haringey (92.6%), Hackney 92.8% Stoke-on-Trent 92.9%, Barking and Dagenham (92.9%) and Bradford (93.6%).
Spot anything these councils have in common? They are all run by the Labour Party. Stoke is a Labour led coalition, Bradford a minority Labour administration. The rest have absolute Labour majorities.
