Last year Labour-run Manchester City Council spent over £43 million on debt interest. You would have thought that before cutting front line services they would have a rigorous look at their asset management to see if this cost could be cut. Yet the Daily Mail reports that they have refused to even consider selling the Manchester City Football Club's stadium - worth around £200 million.

Wasteful spending by that Council has been chronicled often enough on this site – for instance here on Wednesday.

But the Daily Mail have come up with plenty more examples – simply by looking up some of their recruitment ads over the last two years.
