The annual Local Government Information Unit (LGiU) and Churches Charities and Local Authorities (CCLA) C’llr Achievement Awards 2011 is now open for entries. These national awards recognise the contribution that individual councillors make in their communities. You are encouraged to nominate Conservative councillors who would be worthy recipients.
Conservative councillors already have a strong track record in these awards – in 2010 the following Conservatives won awards (half of the awards given):
- Leader of the Year: Cllr Martin Hill, Lincolnshire
- CCLA award for outstanding contribution to financial performance: Cllr Martin Wilson, South Northamptonshire.
- Scrutineer of the year: Cllr Deirdre Alden, Birmingham
- Online councillor of the year: Cllr Ross Grant, Leicester
Making an entry is free and anyone can nominate any councillor (no self-nominations). The closing date is 31 December 2010, 5pm. All details can be found on the LGiU website along with category descriptions and nomination forms.
