Full Council byelection results when I get them. But I have been sent some good news to be getting on with.

Conservatives in North East Derbyshire were celebrating on Thursday night after taking the vacant Gosforth Valley seat on North East Derbyshire District Council from the Lib Dems

Dronfield Town Councillor, John McGrory snatched the Lib Dems safe seat with a 62 vote majority and a 14% swing in a contest which saw the Lib Dems pushed into third place by Labour.

The result was as follows

Conservative (John McGrory)   416
Labour (Bob Gachagan)     354
Lib Dem (Wendy Temple)   350

Turnout 26.1%

New District Councillor John McGrory said "This is a great result for the Conservative Party after a good clean campaign by all candidates. My thanks to everyone who voted for me; now I aim to work for all the electors of the ward, where I live."

Apart from being a Dronfield Town Councillor, John works part-time in the ward's local sub post office, is a Dronfield First Responder and co-ordinates the local Poppy Appeal and Dronfield's Remembrance Day Parade.
