Purbeck District Council has a minority Conservative administration. A third of the seats are up for election on Thursday.
In terms of the General Election there are two Conservative target seats included in this territory. Dorset South is our 35th target seat – which I have already reported on under "The battle for Weymouth and Portland."
While Mid Dorset and North Poole is our 99th target seat and currently held by the Lib Dems. The sitting MP is Annette Brooke – an anti obesity campaigner who claimed for cake and chocolate on expenses.
There are 16 relevant wards – many come under East Dorset Council or Poole Council. When last contested 11 went to the Lib Dems, one was a Lib Dm/Con split, one was Independent and three were Conservative. So a tough challenge for our candidate Nick King who has an impressive record as a local campaigner and has been stressing that those who wish to ensure a change of Government need to support him. Good luck to him.
