Rossendale Borough Council is a Conservative council with a third of the seats up fo election on May 6. This year it achieved a Council Tax freeze after finding £821,000 efficiency savings. The Labour Party offered a confused welcome in response.
So far as the General Election is concerned most of the borough comes under the Rossendale with Darwen constituency which is our 71st target. Of the 20 relevant wards (which include several that come under Blackburn with Darwen Council) when contested last time there were Conservative victories in 11, For Darwen won in three of them, the Lib Dems in three and Labour in three. So we have yet another example of Labour defending their seat from a very weak local base.
Good luck to our candidate Jake Berry. I see he has been boosted by local businessmen protesting to the local press about Labour's job tax.
