Conservative run Spelthorne Council is among the councils in Surrey bringing in a freeze. Partly this will be financed by staff and councillors freezing their pay and allowances. Four out the 11 councils in Surrey are opting for a freeze. I had already reported on Reigate and Banstead doing so.
Another Council freezing is Elmbridge, who are doing so having achieved savings of £1.8 million. They are cutting staffing costs by 10% over the two years and reviewing their property assets. The fourth one is Mole Valley. You can see it all agreed on their webcam.
It is unfortunate that despite the efforts of these Conservative councils the Council Tax bills for their residents will still go up as Surrey County Council is increasing its share by 2.5%.
