The Daily Mail splash this morning on some extraordinary emails that have emerged as being sent to Sharon Shoesmith, when she was the Director of Children's Services. After she gave a press conference declaring that the Council was not to blame for the death of Baby P the Council Chief Executive Dr Ita O'Donovan took her out for a meal to "thank her for the work she had done." The next day Dr O'Donovan described Mrs Shoesmith as a "heroine."
The article also details an email sent to Mrs Shoesmith by Sir Paul Enells, the Chief Executive of the National Children's Bureau. It said: "Well done, Sharon. You have been getting the tone just right."
