Worthing Council have threatened a pensioner with a £75 for pinning up notices on trees about a missing cat.
Clearly they are being jobsworth and insensitive. Apart from missing cats the pinning of notices on trees is often an ideal way to publicise local community events – fund raising events for local schools, churches, events being put on in local parks and so on. It is something Councils should tolerate and not regard as fly posting. But I do think that after the events has taken place (or the cat has been found or accepted as lost forever) then the person who put them up should take responsibility for taking them down again.
