A victory against "health and safety." Norwich Council has backed down on a ban on resident in a sheltered housing complex from buying fish and chips, George Pretty was in the habit of picking up meals from the local fish and chip shop once a week for his fellow residents. But wardens told him to stop on health and safety grounds as they didn't have an insulated box to ensure they were kept to the specified temperature. It only took Mr Pretty a three minute drive to bring them back in polystyrene boxes and there were no complaints from residents about them getting cold.
Norwich Council say the ban was brought in after wardens were sent on a training course. They have now agreed to drop it.
