Alan Farnell with Kam Singh and local supportersYesterday I announced the defection of a Wirral Labour councillor to the Conservatives.

Today my attention is drawn to a similar defection which took place in Warwickshire earlier in the month.

28-year-old Cllr Kam Singh, a Labour County Councillor for Bedworth Poplar ward since 2005, announced his decision to join the Conservatives a couple of weeks ago.

He is now fighting that same ward as a Conservative on June 4th and said:

"I simply want to work hard for the people of Bedworth and help improve life for hard working local people in these difficult financial times. I believe the Conservatives are the party that are committed to delivering positive change for the town".

He is pictured here being welcomed into the Conservative fold by Alan Farnell, leader of Warwickshire County Council.
