Further to Conservative Home's scoop about Boris Johnson unveiling a portrait of The Queen at City Hall, a call has been made for a portrait of her to be put up in the Council Chamber at Tower Hamlets Town Hall.
Cllr Tim Archer, a Conservative councillor on Tower Hamlets, has written to the Council's Chief Executive proposing it. He says: "The Council chamber ought to have a portrait of the Head of State in it. We act after all in her name – we have a mace and from time to time the Deputy Lieutenant of Tower Hamlets who represents the Queen attends our Council meetings. Therefore it is only right and respectful the we have a picture of the Queen in the Chamber."
