Motorists are expressing anger at Conservative controlled Warwickshire County Council over plans to have speed cameras without warning signs. They say the point of these cameras is supposed to be to slow speed rather than raise revenue.
Warwickshire Council says that by not having the warning signs they will avoid "street clutter."
I am all for reducing street clutter. I host "decluttering walks" in my ward with residents groups to identify redundant poles, railings, etc. But surely Warwickshire have made a mistake in this case. The more cynical among us will suspect they just want to rake in the fines.
