On Monday I wrote here about the allowances paid by COSLA to Scottish councillors who are its office holders. Bill Brinsmead thought it "might be more interesting" to have done something on allowances paid by the LGA. Well I found this on their website.
The Labour councillor Sir Jeremy Beecham was most indignant recently when I included scrapping LGA membership in my list of 100 Ways to rdeuce Council Tax without cutting key services. It turns out he is paid £37,394 plus expenses by the LGA for agreeing to serve as their Vice Chairman.
