Swansea Council, which is run by independents, is considering introducing a tram network to the city. Or rather reintroducing as the city had the first trams in the world – the Mumbles Railway which opened in 1807. I like traditional trams although I campaigned against Ken Livingstone’s plans for monster sized trams in Shepherd’s Bush which would have meant closing parts of Uxbridge Road to traffic.

The snag for the Swansea tram returning is likely to be money. A Lib Dem councillor thinks it would cost £400 million with the Council putting in £50 million and the banks putting up the rest.
