Lots of coverage in the media about Councils running out of grit. Hertfordshire County Council is seeking additional supplies from abroad. Wiltshire stores about 8,500 tons of the salt used to make grit and has already used up 7,500 tons. The Council is only gritting major roads.
There is also criticism, in Birmingham for example, of schools closing with children left to play in the snow. No criticism from the children I suspect.
