Cllr Jean Pearson, the Conservative leader of Mo;le Valley District Council on how her residents can reduce both their eco footprint and Council Tax Bill.
Mole Valley District Council has joined forces with British Gas to offer local residents a rebate of £75 on their Council Tax account for loft or cavity wall insulation to their homes. The average cost for a 3-bed semi detached is £250 for cavity wall insulation and £274 for loft insulation.
This offer is available to residents who own their own home or rent from a private landlord, pay council tax to Mole Valley District Council and do not already have cavity wall or loft insulation.
Some applicants meeting are also eligible for a Warm Front Grant including many pensioners, disabled people and those on low incomes.
The scheme is proving very popular with the householders and many grants have already been issued. Mole Valley District Council is hoping that the partnership with British Gas will continue and benefit the residents to keep their homes warm and dry. It is anticipated this programme will be extended to central heating.
