Yesterday, we reported that according to ConservativeHome’s latest monthly survey – which drew the largest response rate on record – 58 per cent of party member replies want the Party’s tax pledge scrapped and 39 per cent want it kept.
Today, we can reveal that the equivalent figures for the pensions triple lock are 67 per cent and 27 per cent. So backing for dropping it is even more clear-cut.
The return from our readers as a whole found 53 per cent in favour of abandoning the triple lock and 36 per cent for keeping it.
As we said yesterday, Twe have the best part of 5000 reader responses to the survey as a whole. That’s a record, as is the 1394 Party member replies above. 4303 replied to our July 2016 survey, while the last Conservative leadership contest was under way, which marked the previous biggest response.
