CLARKE Ken young

Ken and Gillian Clarke were married for over 50 years, and she was very ill for a long time – including during his period as Justice Secretary in the last Government, which cannot have been easy for him.  News of her death broke yesterday evening.

The couple first met in Cambridge during the early 1960s, in what for many is now an unimaginably distant era.  It was a very close marriage, and the death of a spouse in such a union is always a blow to the survivor. ConservativeHome sends its commiserations to Ken Clarke.
