Congratulations to Rachel Maclean who has been chosen as the Conservative candidate for Redditch (Conservative majority 7,054). The previous Conservative MP Karen Lumley is standing down due to ill health.

Here’s our sketch biography of the new candidate:

  • Rachel Maclean: A candidate for Birmingham Northfield at the last General Election. Rachel is a technology entrepreneur who has built two businesses in Birmingham. She founded Skilled and Ready, to help young people prepare for the world of work. She has served 15 years as a Scout Leader and as a School Governor, and fundraised for the LoveBrum charity. She played a leading role in Andy Street’s West Midlands Combined Authority campaign as Co-Chair, which saw former John Lewis CEO Andy Street elected to the new role of Mayor.

Commiserations to the other two candidates shortlisted, Dr Luke Evans and Charles Barwell.
