Congratulations to Cllr Robert Courts, who has just been selected as the Conservative candidate for the Witney by-election, following David Cameron’s departure from the Commons.

Cllr Courts is the Deputy Leader of West Oxfordshire District Council, having first been elected in 2014. Fittingly given his name, he works as a barrister in Oxford. Before moving to West Oxfordshire was a Conservative activist in Winchester. He’s also a new father, as of July, so all credit to him for taking on a by-election at the same time as a young baby.

Given the Conservative majority in the seat last year was over 25,000, it’s quite reasonable to hope and expect that in a few weeks he will be Robert Courts MP. Readers interested in learning more about him can find his website here.
