Battersea Dogs & Cat’s Home is running an online poll to find “Westminster’s top cat of the year” – in other words, felines owned by Parliamentarians. You can vote here until 9am next Thursday.
The competition is called the Purr Minister 2015 contest. As you can already see, it offers journalists opportunities to make buttock-clenchingly abysmal puns in the way that only we can. Candidates are publishing Manifurstos. Losers will get their claws out. The winner may triumph by a whisker, and will be cat-apulted to fame. Photos of contestants will be on purrmanent display.
We begin with Rigel, entered by Caroline Spelman and photographed above. Perhaps it will emerge that Ed Miliband has nominated a cat called Claws Four.
