Welcome back to Cllr Rodney Cann of North Devon Council – who has returned to the Conservatives after some years sitting as an independent.

Cllr Des Brailey, leader of the Conservative Group on North Devon Council, said:

“We welcome Rodney back. He is a very experienced councillor and we are pleased to be able to work more closely with him over the coming months and years.

Cllr Cann will stand as the Conservative candidate in Bickington & Roundswell ward, which he currently represents as an Independent councillor.

For the last four years, he has been deputy leader of the Liberal Democrat-led, joint administration on the district council and executive member for environment.

Cllr Cann  said:

“I am delighted to return home to the Conservative fold and am rolling up my sleeves to join the amazing campaign  being run in North Devon by Peter and his Conservative Team.

“Although I believe I can rightly claim that during my time as an Independent councillor I have managed to make a real differance in North Devon  I recognise that our area is in many ways a poor relation compared to much of the rest of the South West .

“If North Devon is to receive the recognition it deserves  we must have a strong political representation that only our Conservative candidate Peter Heaton Jones provide.”

I hope this will also help the Conservatives gain the Devon North constituency from the Liberal Democrats.
