Earlier this month I reported on some offensive tweeting from the Labour opposition leader on Waveney Council. Had Labour held a byelection which (unusually) was held yesterday they would have taken over the Council. However the Eastern Daily Press reports a Conservative victory with the election of Norman Brooks for Worlingham.
The report adds:
He polled 706 votes, beating Sylvia Robbins of Labour (586) and Sue Bergin of the Green Party (137). Stuart Foulger of the UK Independence Party won 64 votes and Liberal Democrat Doug Farmer polled 46 votes.
The Conservative Party now, once again, have 23 seats on Waveney District Council. The Labour Party also have 23 with one Green and one Independent.
Congratulations to Cllr Brooks.
